A group of teenagers in Bixby, Oklahoma have a secret; their town is the center of strange nightly phenomenon. All born at exactly midnight, each night these 'midnighters' live through a secret 25th hour(which they call the 'blue time' for the way it paints everything in the world with a blue light) where everyone and everything else in the world stops. Each has their own special power which, during the blue hour, helps them to fight the 'darklings'; creatures who inhabit only this one hour a day as a means of protection from the human progress, which they hate and fear. For most of them, the power also continues to work during the rest of their normal lives; unfortunately, it marks them as more than a little odd and they are the misfits of Bixby High School as a result.

The Secret Hour
A new midnighter has moved into town; Jessica Day. The other midnighters are not sure what her power might be; what they do know is that the darklings, who have largely left them alone up to this point and who are afraid of human civilization, seem to be bent on destroying her before they can figure out what it is she can do.

Touching Darkness
Jessica Day has begun to accept her role in the strange group; it helps that she's discovered her power and also that Jonathan, the 'acrobat' has become more or less her boyfriend, sharing each midnight with her as gravity ceases for him and they can fly through the air at incredible height and speed. The darklings have ceased their incursions into town in fear of Jessica's ability, but a new threat now exists. Can they stop the 'stiffs' (their word for non-Midnighting humans because of how stiff they appear while 'frozen' during the blue time) from taking one of their own into the desert and changing him into the darklings most dangerous weapon?

Blue Noon
From Westerfeld's official site " The end of the Midnighters trilogy. The secret hour when time freezes arrives every night at midnight in Bixby, Oklahoma. It's a dangerous time, when five teenagers are the only humans awake and dark creatures crawl out of the shadows, but at least the midnight hour is regular and predictable. Until suddenly, the blue time comes . . . in the middle of the day.The Midnighters can't understand what's happening, but as they scramble for answers, they discover that the walls between the secret hour and real time are crumbling. Soon the dark creatures will have a chance to feed after centuries of waiting, unless these five teenagers can find a way to stop them.
